Description

You may be missing a large part of a tooth. Maybe your tooth is discoloured and you want to improve its appearance. Maybe you bit a pimple a few months ago and the tooth never felt the same again. It’s time to think about making a porcelain wreath, also known as a case.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT ARE PORCELAIN CROWNS?

Advances in the strength and appearance of porcelain crowns have made them the top choice for restoring damaged teeth. A tooth that has been damaged by a root canal, grit, decay or fracture is likely to break from daily use. But a porcelain crown strengthens your tooth by providing 360-degree coverage.

WHAT DOES A PORCELAIN WREATH DO?

Crowns are full-coverage restorations used to cover a tooth that is likely to break or is too damaged to be fixed with a traditional filling.

FIRST RANDEVU

At your first appointment , we will administer full local anesthesia for the tooth being treated. We will then prepare the tooth to create space for the porcelain crown.

After careful evaluation of the shape and contour, a 3D scan or impression of the affected tooth will be made. This will allow the lab technician to create a porcelain crown that looks and feels like your natural tooth.

A temporary crown is created, polished and welded. During the next two weeks, you will want to avoid sticky foods near the treated tooth so that the temporary crown stays in place. If the temporary crown becomes detached, try to replace it as soon as possible and come and see us at the clinic if you are unable to replace it.

SECOND APPOINTMENT

During your second visit, the temporary crown will be removed and the final porcelain crown will be tested and examined. We will take a dental x-ray to ensure proper fit and aesthetics. Then an adhesive is applied to the inside of the porcelain rim. You will receive all the necessary instructions to take proper care of your new tooth!
