If you have a larger filling or perhaps a broken edge on a tooth, you may want to consider a porcelain inlay or overlay! These restorations are a simple and effective treatment and in some cases are an excellent alternative to a full porcelain crown. Let’s talk about what inlays and onlays are all about and if they are right for you!
WHAT TO EXPECT
At i-Dental, we offer inlays and inlays if you have damage or decay at the edge of a tooth. An insert is used similar to a traditional stamp, but looks much more genuine. An overdenture is necessary for a major reconstruction, where it extends to one or more ends of the tooth. Often, inlays can replace traditional seals that have failed or fallen off, as they are more durable.
FIRST APPOINTMENT
During your first visit, the damaged tooth is cleaned and prepared for the 3D digital scan. Within seconds, your teeth are converted into a digital model and sent to our lab technician to create a unique inlay or inlay for your tooth. The dentist will fabricate a temporary filling for your tooth to protect it before your final visit.
SECOND APPOINTMENT
At your second appointment, your custom inlay or overlay is ready to be placed on the damaged tooth. The dentist will make sure that the fit and aesthetics are approved and bond it permanently. It’s that simple!
Our team at i-Dental will be happy to help answer any questions or concerns you may have about inlays, inlays or dental problems. Feel free to contact us today to schedule your appointment.
